Since 1998 Handcrafted Log & Timber Inc. has specialized in custom-built log and timber framed homes, Cabins and barns across Western Colorado.
We cut our teeth building in the Rocky Mountain resort towns in the early 1990's where everything was on a Grand scale. We soon fell in love with massive logs and their intricate joinery and timbers arguesly hewned with hand planes, adz or broadaxe, then craned into its final resting place. We learned the art of integration as well. There were always steel beams, concrete or stone to deal with, framing of steel to be veneered to become log again. All good experiences in the building process.
So our log yard has evolved to produce all the custom elements required for this type of log and timber crafting in house, often on a moments notice with three sawmills, structural grade stamps, tower crane, forklifts, log truck and dozens of hand tools for hand hewing Timbers, siding and trim to get the desired look. We also have a full shop for making box beams, doors, cabinets, built ins, railing, mantles, slab counter tops, tables, shelving, desks, wide plank flooring and other custom woodworking necessities for the final finishes.
We build from the ground up with the extensive use of sustainable and reclaimed materials: beetle kill trees, reclaimed and salvaged timbers and logs, sip's and icf's. Finished out authentically rustic with handcrafted woodwork throughout.
